Can China Play a Role To End Russia-Ukraine War?

 

Once Xi-Jinping said that there is no winner in the war. It is right that war expells stakeholders many years back. It has serious political, social and economic implications not only for the main players of the war but also for others who are linked to them through trade and organizations. The same is the case with Russia-Ukraine War. It is the Russia-Ukraine war due to which the whole world saw an economic crisis, energy crisis, food crisis and many other crises and problems. Every country wants it to end. How can it be ended?

China, Turkey, the USA and Some European countries can play a role to bring both countries for negotiation. China among them can play the most significant role and has played and still is playing.

What effort China has made to mitigate War?

China has strong ties with Russia as well as European countries. Moreover, it is an opportunity for China to be accepted as a global leader. For this purpose, Chinese officials have visited various European countries and had called foreign ministers of Germany and France.

Why ending the conflict is necessary for China.

China must resolve the conflict because of the following reasons

·      Conflict may escalate to a confrontation between Russia and the USA which may turn into nuclear war. In nuclear war along with the main players of the game, China will be the most affected country.

 

·      Moreover China has millions of dollars in trade with European countries and this war is a barrier to its trade

·      In the same way to win the favour of European countries, China must do it. Winning favour of European countries China will be more strong internationally.

·      Due to war Russia is weakening and it is the best partner for China to counter America in the region and has millions of dollars trade ties with Russia. So, China wants the war to end.

·      Likewise, it is an opportunity for China to get the title of one of the global leaders. As it got in mitigating the Saudi-Iran Decades-long conflict.

Is China serious about resolving the issue?   

Yes, China is serious but there various opinions which show that China is biased toward Russia and not too much serious about resolving the conflict. It was mainly because of 21^st April’s statement of China's ambassador to France, Lue Shaye who said that ex-soviet countries do not have any effective status in international affairs. But the Chinese president called it the personal opinion of the ambassador while having a long call with Zelensky. After that China started to work more actively to bring Russia and Ukraine to the table. It is being the war Russia-Ukraine dispute will be resolved leading the world to run smoothly
